Our branch is proud to support a number of charities and organisations who share the aims and values of UNISON. These affiliations are agreed annually at the aggregate Annual General Meetings, which are normally held across the county in February and March. If you would like to suggest groups that you would like the branch to affiliate to, please write to the branch Secretary setting out the name of the organisation and why you think the branch should affiliate. Requests will then be considered by the branch committee and, if approved, sent to the next AGM for members to consider.
Branch members voted to affiliate to the following charities and organisations for 2022/23 at our AGMs held during February and March 2022. The branch donates an affiliation of £100 to each group.
Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND)
CND campaigns non-violently to achieve British nuclear disarmament – to get rid of the Trident nuclear weapons system and stop its replacement. CND recognises that Britain’s nuclear weapons are only a small part of the problem, so also campaigns for a global nuclear weapons ban.
War on Want
War on Want fights against the root causes of poverty and human rights violation, as part of the worldwide movement for global justice.
